James Gilbey

James is a director in Mazars' Forensic and Investigation Services team, having specialised in the provision of forensic accounting services to solicitors, regulators, and corporates since 2004.

James began his forensic accounting career as an associate in the Enforcement Division of the Financial Services Authority where he spent over a year assisting in the much publicised investigation into the collapse of the Split Capital Investment Trust market. In 2004 James joined a newly formed forensic accounting boutique in London, where he spent over six years (leaving as a director in 2011).

He has significant experience of assisting solicitors, and their clients, in a wide range of contentious quantum issues. James has assisted in disputes relating to, inter alia, investment trusts, breach of contract claims, valuations, competition and cartel claims and post acquisition warranty claims. He has worked across a number of sectors including waste and recycling, energy, travel and tourism and financial services.
