Reorganisation of the international management team of a luxury group

Well established in mature European and North American markets, luxury companies are leaning more and more towards emerging countries (Asia, Middle East, Brazil). The conquest of these new markets is pushing industry players to rethink their organisational structure, adapting their processes and resources to their development strategy.

Challenge

Strong international growth has led our client to rethink its relationships with local management by simplifying and harmonising reporting in order to facilitate decision making. The aim was twofold: to maintain the entrepreneurial approach which contributed to the success of the group and professionalise its commercial strategy and internal operations. This organisational change required a partner who could combine both expertise and experience in business transformation programmes in the luxury sector.

Solution

The Mazars consulting team first conducted interviews to understand the needs, constraints and expectations at a central and local level. In parallel, we developed and provided a comprehensive benchmark of best practices in organisational and business performance. Our approach, which is based on listening and understanding complex situations, helped us build a complete diagnostic of the structure, governance, and reporting processes and propose several models of organisation. The strategy that was adopted by the Executive Committee was based on operational excellence, developing managerial skills and technical assistance to individual countries.

Impact

Special attention was put on the acceptance and implementation of the new organisation. All activities from sales, operations, finance and marketing to the international management team were fully integrated into the business transformation programme. Our client now has a new regional organisation to meet the challenges of internationalisation.

Designing new standards

Our client has 63 stores located in 5 countries, including France, the United Arab Emirates and China. Mazars was asked to design new internal control standards for the entire logistics process and optimise supply chain management for better performance control of physical flows and financial information.
