The Mazars Group creates its first Carbon Print®

Within the framework of its social responsibility and environmental strategy, the Mazars Group has created its first Carbon Print.

Mazars decided to create its first Carbon Print® during the Annual Conference in December 2009, which took place in London. The Carbon Print® is a way of measuring greenhouse gas emissions, in particular the amount generated by business or group activity, whether it be during their organised events or from the buildings that host these activities.

The Group has measured consummation in terms of energy, trips, services and consumables, waste and immobilisations throughout the international Conference and during all of its preparation. It turns out that more than 1200 tonnes of CO2 were emitted.

For Mazars, the Carbon Print® is one of the first major steps taken by the group in protecting the environment. During the Conference, partners were consulted and the majority voted for the compensation of greenhouse gases generated by the event. 50% of emissions, or the equivalent of 600 tonnes of CO2, will be compensated for by a specially designed project.

The project is devoted to the protection of the equatorial forest in Indonesia. The Mazars Group has taken on an international dimension, alongside the Non-Governmental Organisation, Conservation International, for the reforestation of Indonesia, with various Mazars teams across the country.

Meanwhile, the Mazars office in Indonesia is continuing, indeed, its reforestation project, using a ‘paper neutral’ approach, involving as last year, many peaple in plantation operations

The Carbon Print®, created by the Group with the assistance of a research department, is endorsed by the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME).
