Portraits of Mazars staff

Portrait no. 09 : Huyen Nguyen (Saigon)
Portrait #09:
Huyen Nguyen

Auditor
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Could you describe your job?
I’m originally an auditor, but I’m also in charge of training our clients to use the new accounting software. We’re a small team of 27 people – 22 in Saigon and 5 in Hanoï – and we must be able to operate in several areas. Our clients include subsidiaries of major French corporations, local companies and a growing number of French entrepreneurs who have decided to start new businesses in Vietnam. Based on that expanding client base, our prospects for growth are promising: Mazars will probably have 50 professionals in Vietnam in 2 or 3 years.
What is your professional background?
After graduating from HEC Lausanne, I joined a subsidiary of the Swatch group as a financial controller. I worked there for 3 years, before going back to Vietnam, where I started working for Mazars. I have now been with Mazars for 3 years.
What would you say to someone looking to join Mazars?
I would tell them that Mazars offers lots of opportunities for diversified assignments and enables its young professionals to acquire a wide and solid array of skills. This might be even truer when one works in a small office, where you have to be a little bit of a generalist. But I believe giving young staff general training is one of Mazars' specificities.
What motivates you the most?
I am very sensitive to the working atmosphere, to the "family spirit" that prevails within our office. There’s no internal competition, we help one another to get the job done. I also like the fact that I am in touch with our colleagues in Asia on a regular basis.
