Portraits of Mazars staff

Portrait no. 03 : Monika Kaczorek (Warsaw, Poland)
Portrait #03: Monika Kaczorek
Partner (Warsaw, Poland)
Could you describe your job?
I am the Mazars partner in Warsaw in charge of CAS (Corporate Assurance Services) in Poland. In this context, I am responsible for my client relationships. I manage the business aspects, the coordination of the teams, and I must ensure the quality of services provided and the overall progress of missions.
I am also in charge of standards and doctrine for the Warsaw office. This leads me, for example, to coordinate Mazars's technical committee in Poland and to organise all the work we carry out on quality standards, bringing them into perfect harmony with those of the group, but also on our auditing standards which must consistently be in compliance with international standards.
Finally, I play a role in business development, which takes place in particular through seminars and training sessions with our current and prospective clients.
What is your professional background?
My initial university education did not predispose me in any way to an auditing career. In fact, I received training in applied linguistics from the University of Warsaw. I then entered the Warsaw Business School, and joined the Polish office as an assistant auditor after graduating. I have been with Mazars for twelve years now, earned my CPA qualification here, and became a partner 2005.
What would you say to someone looking to join Mazars?
The first thing I would point out is that Mazars offers real opportunities to those who want them. I have put in a lot of work and commitment to Mazars; I received in return the possibilities for advancement that I wanted. Mazars has an ability to respond to employees' commitments which I find essential.
I would add that Mazars also lets young recruits learn about the diversity of the accounting profession, activity sectors, and missions. They can then make informed choices and select the activity which bests matches their expectations and abilities.
Finally, I would highlight the fact that the organisation has been able to maintain and promote strong human values, even while reinforcing its international scale.
What motivates you the most?
I would mention two main things which arise in my day-to-day activity.
Contact with clients, first of all, the possibility of developing strong and trusting relationships with them and of building real partnerships for the long term. Team management, secondly, which is of prime importance in my job. For me, being a partner means giving others the example and the motivation to stay the course.
