Jean-Louis Lebrun, a Mazars partner and joint head of Doctrine, has been appointed a member of the IFRIC (International Financial Reporting Interpretations Committee) by the IASB board of trustees.
ROLE OF THE IFRIC
Members of the IFRIC provide interpretation of the regulations drawn up by the IASB (International Accounting Standards Board); this is essential to ensure that accounting regulations are transparent for all international players.
The IFRIC is normally made up of 12 members, who are currently from seven different countries.
This interpreting role is especially important at a time when all European countries, including France, must conform to the IASB's regulations on the presentation of consolidated accounts for listed companies for the first time in 2005.
JEAN-LOUIS LEBRUN'S PROFESSIONAL CAREER
Jean-Louis Lebrun has been a partner at Mazars since 1979. He is chairman of the Group's Supervisory Board.
In France, Jean-Louis Lebrun has played an active role in drawing up various policies at the National Accountancy Institute (CNC - Conseil National de la Comptabilité), and has occupied positions on its emergency committee.
He is a member of the committee for Accounting Studies of the National Body of Statutory Auditors (Compagnie Nationale des Commissaires aux Comptes).
At the European level, he is a member of the working group on Concessions at EFRAG (European Financial Reporting Advisory Group).
Jean-Louis Lebrun is also a member of the Transnational Audit Committee of IFAC (International Federation of Accountants).
This appointment confirms Mazars's presence as a major player on the international audit scene.
