Mazars contributes to the acquisition of “Portrait of Count Molé”.

With its contribution to the acquisition of the "Portrait du Comte Molé" by Ingres, Mazars becomes a partner in the largest cultural patronage project ever undertaken by the Louvre.

11/12/2009

After its contribution to the acquisition of "La fuite en Egypte" in 2007, an official National Treasure painted by Nicolas Poussin, Mazars has continued its commitment to cultural patronage and heritage protection by partnering with the Louvre again in an exceptional patronage project, as yet the biggest undertaken by the museum. Mazars has offered its support to the acquisition of the "Portrait du Comte Molé", painted by Ingres in 1834, thus joining an exclusive club of 5 large sponsors. On this occasion, an official ceremony marking the entry of this masterpiece into the Louvre’s collections has taken place on Thursday 10 December, in the presence of the Minister of Culture and Communication.

Mobilisation of sponsors for a national treasure

Recognised as a French National Treasure, the "Portrait du Comte Molé" is presented as a major work, the culmination of the talent of portraitist d'Ingres. Thanks to the patronage, the "Portrait du Comte Molé" joins the collections of the Louvre which already contain a number of paintings by the artist.

A strong period for our social and environmental responsibility policy

This new project falls under the heading of Mazars’ commitments to citizens. Convinced that a company has a responsibility towards the society and the environment which its activities affect, Mazars invests significantly and on a long-term basis in patronage projects reflecting its commitments and its culture. Based on values of responsibility and transmission, these projects also demonstrate Mazars’ determination to promote cultural diversity and to contribute to heritage protection.
