Reducing our environmental impact

In a world where climate change threatens the very existence of life, every individual and organisation must actively play their part in limiting the global temperature rise to 1.5 °C.  Shifting to a decarbonised economy will require an extensive and collective global effort, and as an international firm we are no strangers to the power of working together and its importance in achieving success. At Mazars, we are strongly committed to reducing our environmental impact using a strategy that is guided by climate science. We have placed climate action at the core of how we work, striving to embed sustainability throughout our value chain.

Genuine commitment and respect for the environment is necessary to restore the ecological balance that is in danger today. Through our global partnership we are and will continue to take significant steps towards understanding our environmental impact and implementing deep decarbonisation measures to support the transition to a low-carbon economy.

Our climate action plan focuses on:

1. Embedding sustainability across our business

We engage with key business functions to drive awareness on climate science and integrate sustainable decision-making processes into our operations. We believe that environmental sustainability is not only the responsibility of our corporate sustainability teams, but of every function that is essential to our value chain.

2. Adopting a data centric approach

As an international firm present in 90+ countries, our focus lies on adopting a data centric approach to accurately measure and report our climate progress and impact. Driven by our determination to decarbonise our operations, we are gathering emissions-related data following the Greenhouse Gas Protocol standards. This will provide a solid foundation for progress that is consistent with limiting the global temperature rise to 1.5°C.

3. Driving employee engagement in sustainability through capacity building

We empower our employees to become effective agents of change through sustainability-related trainings and policies. By deepening our engagement with our employees, we strive to encourage them to adopt sustainable practices in the areas of travel, commute, resource consumption and energy usage.

Strengthening our commitment to climate action

Staying true to our pledge to contribute meaningfully to the global race towards decarbonisation, we have submitted our commitment letter to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This public commitment demonstrates our dedication to a net zero pathway guided by climate science, ensuring a transparent and robust approach to reducing our emissions.

As we move forward in defining our climate action plan, we will:

  • Scope and calculate as accurately as possible our global environmental footprint as per the GHG Protocol standards.
  • Identify key sources of emissions and leverage our data to develop near-term, science-based targets for 2030, followed by a long-term plan for 2050 in line with the SBTi.
  • Deploy tailored action plans to effectively and successfully deliver our net zero ambition.
