Interview: Romain Gastambide
Romain Gastambide is a Senior Auditor at Mazars in Budapest (Hungary).
What has been your academic background and career path up until now?
I graduated from HEC in 2005. When I finished my studies, I joined Mazars Germany, working in the Düsseldorf office. That first year allowed me to learn the audit profession and improve my German. Then, I joined Mazars Hungary in July 2006.
Describe your current role/duties
I am now an audit Senior. The role of the audit Senior in Hungary involves preparing audit assignments, managing risks, supervising assistants, preparing client dossiers as well as drafting the various documents at the end of the assignment with Managers.
Have you had the time to make the most of Budapest?
Luckily, yes!
What has this international experience given you?
This experience is the opportunity to pursue a career in audit, learn Hungarian and to specialise in local regulations all at the same time. Moreover, my French nationality has made me a key contact for our French-speaking clients.
Would you recommend Mazars to a friend?
I appreciate that Mazars had the confidence to let me start my audit career overseas from day one and has supported me in learning Hungarian. I believe that this has been a great opportunity.
