Getting to grips with society’s challenges

Mazars teams throughout the world work on a daily basis, and through concrete local initiatives, in the service of their communities.

Many of the groups or NGOs supported by Mazars work on helping children in need.

  • In China, for example, we are working with the group ‘Couleur de Chine’ to help more than 5,000 children from the ethnic minorities Miao, Yao and Dong (mainly girls), whose families are too poor to cope with the cost of schooling them.
  • In Madagascar, we have helped build a school.

In addition to these very targeted local actions, we are involved in a growing number of countries in providing audit and accountancy services free of charge to NGOs.

Amongst several others, these countries currently include: Brazil, China, Great Britain, Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, Turkey and Morocco.

Mazars’ teams in Brazil actively support several solidarity projects, through various forms of assistance: pro bono professional services, notably in audit, volunteer work and financial support.

Environment, diversity, social entrepreneurship: Mazars’ spirit of citizenship in the Netherlands is coordinated by an ad'hoc committee and targets all three pillarsof the Group's PSR strategy, which have all been analysed to determine their social and environmental impacts.

The protection of the Moroccan Argan : an advance in research, supported by Mazars

In the framework of its social and environmental responsibility policy (Partnership Social Responsibility), Mazars is helping those programmes which reflect its values, including, respect for the environment, support for cultural and social diversity and entrepreneurship. The company is encouraging the work of a Ph.D. student at the Sorbonne, Mbark Aouragh, by offering a scholarship which has allowed him to concentrate on his thesis on Morocco’s cultural heritage. His work is titled ‘The Moroccan Argan tree , a forest heritage in danger: customs, practices and risks of damage’. Within a few months of the start of his work in June 2009, the young researcher presented us with his findings.

Aware of its responsibility as a leader company, Mazars in Indonesia has asked Conservation International to calculate the effect of its paper consumption on the environment with the intention that Mazars can replant and support an equivalent number of trees as part of a proper causal CSR program.
